I live in cheddar which is about a 25 minute drive to my closest beach Weston super mare. I remember standing on the beach and seeing all these kites, strait away I wanted to have a go. A few weeks later I went into UFO kite shop to find out more. Originally I wanted to do boarding but after sitting in a buggy and racing around the beach I decided that was the way forward. I always get a thrill out of kiting partly from the racing and also meeting new people but the thing that makes this sport different is being able to read the wind and know what kite to go out on plus finding new ways of getting round corners or slight changes to the kite or buggy to make you just that bit faster. My favourite spot is Pembrey in Wales because of the huge stretch of open beach and flat hard sand. My favourite race so far would be at Hoylake 2010 because it was a nice sunny day with great winds, also it was my first time in a competitive buggy and I managed to get 1st in one and 2nd in three of the open class races. This year I came 2nd overall and only just missed out on 1st in the open class.
